RCS New Orleans: Analysts' commitment predictions

DESTREHAN, La. - The fourth stop of the Rivals Camp Series is in the books and many top uncommitted prospects were in attendance.

Today, Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney and national recruiting analysts Clint Cosgrove and Nick Harris address five players who attended the camp and make their predictions about where the prospects could end up.

The feeling that I get here is that Baylor is the team to beat. Fobbs-White is a perfect fit in Dave Aranda's defense and the staff in Waco has made him a priority throughout his recruitment. The recruiting efforts of Oklahoma State have also made the Cowboys a contender, and I expect a number of new teams to make a run at Fobbs-White as we close in on signing day as well. But, unless things change drastically in the coming months, Baylor is my pick. - Cosgrove

This is a tough one to figure out because new schools are getting involved and with more exposure this offseason other programs could definitely get in the mix because Fobbs-White is a very talented and versatile prospect. Baylor has the edge at this point because Aranda and his staff have made the Monroe (La.) Neville standout a big priority, but Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech and others remain seriously involved, too. - Gorney

Baylor has quietly pulled some talent from the state of Louisiana in recent classes going back to Matt Rhule’s time in Waco, and Fobbs-White could be the next in line to make the trip west to Central Texas. His relationship with Aranda is strong, and the pitch from the Bears for him to be an outside linebacker with multiple roles in the defense makes them a top contender. The only way I could see the Bears running into some competition is if he reels in bigger offers as the offseason goes on. - Harris

I cannot imagine Formby ending up at any other school than Alabama. While I am sure he is intrigued by many of the top teams recruiting him, any kid from Tuscaloosa who is fortunate enough to have a committable offer from Alabama is going to end up playing for the Crimson Tide. LSU, Auburn and Ole Miss are all schools that would have a shot at Formby if he wasn't from "T-Town," but the lure of staying home to play for a Nick Saban-coached team that competes for a national championship on a yearly basis is undefeated. - Cosgrove

Formby has taken visits all across the Southeast and seen almost all of the top programs in person. Many have made a significant impact on his recruitment and the four-star offensive tackle has played it pretty cool throughout the recruiting process as he finds the best fit. Last weekend, Formby visited and got offered by LSU. Florida, Auburn and others are involved. But it would be a major surprise to me if the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Northridge prospect didn’t end up simply going down the road and playing for Alabama. He has the offer, Alabama wants him in the class and this just makes too much sense. - Gorney

It’s not often that Saban misses on a high-end recruit in his back yard, and Formby fits that description. One of the more dominant players we saw in New Orleans this past weekend, Formby has the attention of just about every major program in the country, but it will ultimately come down to an SEC battle that I just don’t see the Crimson Tide losing. While Auburn, Florida and LSU will make their respective pitches, each of those schools will have to overcome some recent changes or recent developments in the coaching department. - Harris

Mississippi State, Missouri and Oklahoma State clearly lead the pack in Glenn's recruitment, and you could make a solid case for him landing at any of those three schools. He would love the opportunity to throw the ball nearly every play in Mike Leach's offense, and the quarterback-friendly system at Missouri is also intriguing to him. But, it was Oklahoma State and Glenn's belief that he can compete for a national championship under Mike Gundy that seemed to get him most excited when he discussed his recruitment on Sunday. Glenn has an upcoming trip to Stillwater, and as long as everything goes well on the visit, I believe he ends up a Cowboy in the end. - Cosgrove

A top three of Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Missouri have emerged for Glenn, who was outstanding at the Rivals Camp in New Orleans, but I’m leaning toward the Bulldogs here. Numerous times, Glenn has talked highly of Leach and throwing in Mississippi State’s offense, and it was definitely a big deal when he landed that offer. It just feels like things are trending that way. Oklahoma State and Missouri remain seriously in the running, but I give Mississippi State a good edge. - Gorney

Oklahoma State’s success in the 2021 season has paid dividends on the recruiting trail, and that shows with how much belief Glenn has in the future in Stillwater. If Gundy and his staff continue to make him feel like a priority moving forward, then the Tennessee native could be a Cowboy at the next level. Mississippi State stands out with Leach’s offensive system, but it’s clear that winning is a big part of Glenn’s recruitment, and in his eyes Oklahoma State is the place to do that. - Harris

Jackson's recruitment could go in a number of directions, but the feeling around camp was that Texas A&M is the school and staff he has connected with most. Then you have an Oregon staff that has made Jackson a priority and seems to be looking for a bigger back to pound the rock under their new defensive-minded head coach. Michigan is also in play and showed what its offense is capable of with a bigger back like Jackson in its use of Hassan Haskins last season. At the same time, it is hard to imagine a high-caliber player from Baton Rouge not staying home to play for LSU. This recruitment is far from over, and this is a tough one for me to call right now, but I'll go out on a limb and say Jackson ends up at Oregon. - Cosgrove

Texas A&M, Georgia, Michigan, Florida State, Oklahoma State, LSU, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee and Baylor made the top 10 for Jackson that he released on Monday, but the real contenders likely make for a shorter list. The Aggies should definitely be watched here because they’re showing him a lot of attention and Jackson has noticed. Oregon is another one that could emerge as a real frontrunner, especially since there is familiarity with Dan Lanning and his staff. Michigan has also been mentioned, but now the Wolverines have two backs in the class. And then there’s LSU. Jackson is right down the road and likes LSU a lot, but the high four-star probably needs to feel the love a little bit more. - Gorney

This one is a big question mark just because of how fluid Texas A&M’s running back board is at the moment with guys like Rueben Owens, Tre Wisner and recent visitor Cedric Baxter Jr. all in the mix for the Aggies. Does it make sense to take two running backs in this cycle if you’re Jimbo Fisher? Certainly, and Jackson would be a great complement to any of those three aforementioned backs. However, if the Aggies decide to keep him at bay, watch for Oregon to swoop in as a future visit to Eugene could shake things up regardless for the four-star. - Harris

Mack impressed throughout the day at our New Orleans camp, but it was his performance during 1-on-1s where he really shined and proved to be the best among a loaded defensive back group. When I think of big DBs who can play man coverage, I immediately think of LSU and the way they have utilized bigger DBs like Derek Stingley and Grant Delpit in recent years. Mack is from Louisiana, he comes from a family of LSU fans and he fits the mold of an LSU defensive back. His recruitment is just beginning to take off, so this is far from a done deal, but I am picking LSU as his landing spot when signing day comes around for the 2024 class. - Cosgrove

When LSU offered in early March, Mack’s recruitment could have started down a path that would lead to a commitment to the Tigers. Alabama is involved and cannot be discounted and then Mississippi State and Tulane are in it as well, but the 2024 cornerback from Marrero (La.) John Ehret really likes the new LSU staff. It has been a dream school of his and it would be a surprise at this point if Mack didn’t end up playing in Baton Rouge. - Gorney

While it’s early in Mack’s recruitment, an in-state offer from LSU will always stand out to a Louisiana prospect. Add in the fact that Brian Kelly and his staff will have a whole year to show what the future could look like in Baton Rouge, and I think success could find the Tigers’ way on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class. Mack projects to be one of the top defensive backs in the region in his class, so expect it to still be a stiff competition with teams like Alabama and Mississippi State already in the mix early in the game. - Harris
