While recruiting in the 2020 class is in full swing and several teams have gotten off to quick starts, much of the top talent at the wide receiver and tight end positions is still uncommitted. With plenty of talent across the country still available, this is just the beginning for what should be another exciting year for recruiting at both positions. Here is a look at where things stand thus far.

TEAM WITH THE TOP COMMITS: MIAMI

The Hurricanes are one of the few teams off to a quick start on the commitments front now that Miami seems to be pretty successfully re-establishing its brand in south Florida. While one of the players that the Hurricanes have in the fold is currently listed as an athlete – Marcus Fleming – he seems more the part of a wide receiver and has performed well this spring and summer as a pass-catcher.

Even if Fleming isn’t part of the equation when considering the early success that Miami has had recruiting for its passing game, the Hurricanes have two other four-star commits in wide receiver Marc Britt and tight end Dominic Mammarelli committed early on as well.

Britt was a standout performer at the Miami event of the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp presented by adidas earlier this spring and reports have been steadily coming out this spring about the weight he’s gaining and improvement he’s been showing. Mammarelli has been battling through a labrum injury that has made it difficult for him to compete at events this offseason but holds a spot in the Rivals250 because of his size and speed.

TEAM TO WATCH: FLORIDA STATE

The Seminoles currently don’t have any pass-catchers committed but should be a popular option for many prospects. The program has had a steady tradition of producing top-flight wide receivers and new head coach Willie Taggart will surely want to build an explosive offense in Tallahassee.

Two players in particular to keep an eye on are Rivals100 wide receiver Rakim Jarrett and southern Georgia athlete Ja’Marquis Johnson. Johnson is another player currently slated as an athlete, but he’s an offensive force for his high school team with impressive physical measurables. Jarrett has been a top prospect nationally for some time, and even with Taggart now steering the ship, there is some history for players from the D.C. area to look the Seminoles way and there seems to be some mutual interest there.

PROSPECT TO WATCH: LEONARD MANUEL

It seems like a no-brainer to call the top wide receiver in his class the player to watch, but since March Manuel has taken visits to Florida State, USC, Georgia and most recently Florida. In the process he decommitted from Miami and has top programs from all over the country hoping they can move to the front of the line with him. It’s not always easy getting Florida prospects too far away from home, but few have the sort of size and big-play potential that he does. He’ll be one of the most sought-after players for the next couple of years, and if he stays pro-active about visiting such a wide variety of programs, he’ll continue to be a very compelling recruitment to follow.

TAKE TWO: Is Florida the team to beat for Manuel?
