Michael Hawkins
Michael Hawkins

Hawkins won back-to-back QB MVP honors at the Rivals Camp Series in Dallas after again impressing this weekend. The Oklahoma commit is a consistent signal caller that displays pinpoint accuracy and clean mechanics, even during a windy day.

The 6-foot-2 and 195-pound passer has shined in multiple camp settings and that was no different on Sunday. He was in a rhythm all day, threw with a lot of confidence, and demonstrated why the Sooners made him a priority in the 2024 cycle.

Oklahoma is in excellent shape at quarterback moving forward under Brent Venables and Jeff Lebby with Jackson Arnold already in the program and Hawkins set to join the room next year.

Shay Smith
Shay Smith

Smith turned in one of the more surprising performances of the day, as he threw the ball with touch and zip from beginning to end. At 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Smith has a thick frame, and he has been drawing interest and offers to play on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker in college.

But his showing on Sunday suggests that he could have some upside behind center, too. He threw for more than 30 touchdowns as a junior and rushed for 11 more. The three-star out of El Paso holds a handful of in-state offers and is one to watch moving forward.

Russell was one of the more intriguing passers in attendance on Sunday in Coppell. He is an athletic quarterback that wins in and out of the pocket. He displayed impressive arm talent throughout the day, especially on throws down the field.

The Duncanville signal caller eclipsed 2,000 yards through the air and accounted for 25 touchdowns as a sophomore for a Panthers squad that went 15-0 and won the state title last fall in the biggest classification in Texas. He showcased why his recruitment has picked up this spring with offers coming in from Ole Miss, Purdue and TCU over the last couple months.

Russell is a prospect with a rising stock heading into the summer. He'll look to add another state championship to his resume as a junior with no shortage of weapons around him.

Kevin Sperry

Sperry was the second Oklahoma commitment that competed in Dallas this weekend, and he entered the camp with big expectations. Much like Hawkins, Sperry was consistent throughout the day and was accurate to all levels of the field. If Hawkins was the best QB in attendance, Sperry was not far behind.

He gave his targets opportunities to make plays while throwing the ball with ease. Sperry was the quarterback that offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby targeted to build the Sooners' 2025 class around, and he's locked in on his future in Norman.

Hawkins jumped onto radars as a sophomore after putting up big numbers in San Antonio last fall. He had a strong performance on Sunday as he made some impressive throws and displayed the arm talent that led to 30 passing touchdowns in 2022.

A bit undersized at 6-foot and 175, Hawkins has Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech on his early and growing offer sheet. Hawkins also excels on the diamond in baseball and features upside as a rusher.

Ryan is an established quarterback firmly on the radars of programs in the region. He holds multiple offers ahead of his junior season and has had a strong offseason in camp settings and 7-on-7 circuit.

Ryan has real arm talent and throws with accuracy on the move. Throwing the ball to 2024 wideout Dozie Ezukanma should result in a breakout junior campaign. Baylor is among the early standouts for the DFW prospect.

Romin Seymour

Seymour is only gearing up for his sophomore season at Manvel, but he is oozing with talent and upside. The Houston-area passer looks the part at 6-4 and 175, and pairs a strong arm with his frame. His natural abilities throwing the football are evident as he continues to develop his craft behind center.

Houston, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M are the first three programs to offer Seymour. It's safe to say that they won't be the only to be in the race for him when it's all said and done.

Henderson might have been the most interesting quarterback prospect at the camp. A dual-sport athlete that features legit track speed, Henderson played receiver as a freshman. There, he went over the 1,000-yard mark and hauled in 14 touchdowns.

Now, Henderson is preparing to play quarterback as a sophomore, and he certainly flashed some real upside throwing the ball on Sunday. It remains to be seen where he ultimately plays on the next level, but there's no doubt that Henderson is dynamic. Arizona State, Houston and Texas A&M have all offered.
