QB Challenge Finals: Brevin White

The Rivals Quarterback Challenge Finals Presented by Under Armour will be held this Sunday in Baltimore with 12 of the nation’s top signal callers from the 2017 and 2018 classes testing their skill not only against unforgiving immobile targets but also throwing to live receivers in coverage. Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell briefly breaks down each quarterback expected at the event.

Recruiting wrap: White has offers from Arizona State, where his brother plays, Washington and Washington State. ASU has to be considered the team to beat.

What I like: White, the younger brother of Arizona State quarterback Brady White, carries himself with more confidence than most younger quarterbacks and I think that comes from working with and learning under his brother. He shows quickness on the rollout throws and is deadly accurate on anything short or intermediate. He is slight but will add some weight and probably an inch or two as his brother did, and he throws a pretty long ball. He’s excellent on touch passes as well with an uncanny knack for dropping the ball into soft spots.

What I want to see in Baltimore: Because he’s slight and needs a lot of added strength, his ball comes out with less velocity at this stage than you’d like, which leads to questions of arm strength and stamina. I’d like to see him finish as strong as he starts at the finals and show a bit more zip on his passes. He relies too much right now on touch and needs to use his lower body a bit more to get more of a downfield push on his ball. I obviously don’t expect him to add size between the regional and this final, but I want to see how much he can put on the ball.
