QB Challenge finalist: Chase Brice

The Rivals Quarterback Challenge Finals are Sunday in Baltimore with 12 of the nation’s top signal-callers from the 2017 and 2018 classes testing their skill not only against unforgiving immobile targets but also throwing to live receivers in coverage. This week, Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell briefly breaks down each quarterback expected at the event.

Recruiting wrap: Brice is committed to Clemson

What I like: Brice has good size, a strong arm and he’s accurate. The ball comes out with zip and his delivery is quick and compact for the most part. Brice doesn’t seem fazed by anything and is very smooth in most everything he does. He never seems hurried or worried, which is a good sign for a quarterback. His relaxed demeanor means he doesn’t rush his throws and his rhythm is consistent.

What I want to see In Baltimore: Brice has a tendency to drop his elbow on his release at times, especially when throwing on the move, so that would be something I’d like to see improved. Despite good arm strength, the ball will wobble on him at times, and compensating for windy conditions can be an issue. I’d like to see him be a little more sudden and quick on rollouts, perhaps that relaxed demeanor might be a hindrance at times when flushed.
