1. Brandon Streeter hiring gives Kirby Smart options at Georgia.Â
As a head coach, having options is always nice, especially at the college level. After Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken (2022-22) left Athens for a return to the NFL as the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator, head coach Kirby Smart hired a familiar name in Mike Bobo. Bobo played for the program (1993-97) and was a graduate assistant there (1999) before heading to Jacksonville State for one year as the QB coach. Bobo returned to Athens in 2001, working his way from QB coach to taking over as offensive coordinator under Mark Richt in 2007, a position he held until 2014.
With familiarity breeds contempt, and most UGA fans were not ready to go back to Bobo’s old offensive ways. His offenses at South Carolina (355.1 ypg) in 2020 and at Auburn (402.5) in 2021 produced mixed reviews. His season as an offensive analyst for Georgia should help him make a quick transition, but is there a short hook on him with Brandon Streeter now on staff?
Streeter will fill Bobo’s 2022 role as an offensive analyst, but his resume as an offensive coordinator and QB coach for Clemson presents alternatives. Given how light the Bulldogs’ schedule is to start the 2023 season with Tennessee-Martin, Ball State and UAB among their first four games, fans may not know how strong the offense is or isn’t until they get into the heart of their SEC schedule. Should the offense flutter, there is a proven play-caller waiting in the wings.

2. Three names to watch out of Florida in 2026 class.
There’s nothing like coming out of the gates swinging, and that is what Meassick did for Tohopekaliga during the 2022 season. The freshman wowed by throwing for 3,044 yards with 38 touchdowns in just 10 games.
Florida was the first to offer Meassick, with Marshall joining the mix in late January. Meassick has made the rounds this offseason, and he's already thrown at various camps while displaying fantastic arm strength. His star will continue to rise.
A budding two-sport athlete also lighting up the board on the hardwood, Bowden has seen his stock rise in the new year. Texas A&M offered the tight end out of Bay High School in mid-January with South Florida, Western Kentucky, and Florida A&M getting in the mix as well. Expect more offers to drop, especially with upcoming visits to Florida State and Miami.
Bowden got an opportunity to show what he can do at the Under Armour Next Camp in Orlando, catching everyone’s eye with his height, a big wingspan and catcher’s mitt hands.
The list of scholarship options for Gray is already in the double digits, with LSU, Florida State, Indiana, Miami, Louisville and Pitt getting an early jump on building recruiting bonds. Gray shined during his freshman year, securing 56 passes for 752 yards and putting 14 scores on the board. He also stopped 42 plays with one interception.
Miami, UCF, FSU and Florida have already hosted Gray on unofficial visits this offseason.
