LOS ANGELES – With top prospects from the western part of the country in town for the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp presented by adidas on Sunday, UCLA took advantage by hosting several of those prospects on their campus for a Saturday spring practice. Among those in attendance was St. George (Utah) Desert Hills offensive tackle Penei Sewell.

THE LATEST

A Rivals100 prospect, Sewell has his fair share of suitors, and has made spring practice visits to BYU, USC and UCLA. The trip to UCLA for Saturday’s spring practice was his second time on-campus with the Bruins. Several of the coaches on Jim Mora’s staff are new since he was last there a year ago, and there were other aspects to this most recent visit that were different from what Sewell saw the only previous time he visited UCLA.

IN HIS WORDS

“I went to the practice, saw the new facilities they were building and it was an awesome visit. I got to meet the new coaches; meeting Coach (Hank) Fraley was awesome. I got to build a foundation for our relationship. We just went back and forth and the communication was there. I talked to him about practice and how I liked his coaching style. Just the way he communicates with the players, it’s not harsh but (he still) gets his point across.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Sewell is already a veteran of the recruiting process and did not give much insight to where his recruitment was headed. He did note that at this time he does not have any future college visits scheduled, but is open to seeing more schools this spring if something comes up. He also admitted to starting to think about narrowing down his list of schools to a top group, but that there will be no set number or set timetable for when that would happen. He plans to take all five official visits before making his college selection.
