The college fantasy football playoffs are upon us. It’s time to look back at the fantasy season to see which players performed the best and some that didn’t put up the big numbers. We start at quarterback:

STUDS

1. Jalen Hurts - Oklahoma

Hurts obliterated all other quarterbacks in the fantasy game and it’s why he should be the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy. The Alabama transfer racked up 3,039 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and five picks and also rushed for a nation’s best 15 scores as a quarterback. He had 80.48 more fantasy points than any other QB entering this upcoming week.

2. Joe Burrow - LSU

Burrow has been an incredible story in college football this season and he’s second in fantasy points at quarterback with an elite group of receivers in LSU’s offense. The Ohio State transfer has 3,687 passing yards with 38 touchdowns and six picks along with three rushing scores for the undefeated Tigers. Not only is Burrow having a Heisman-worthy season which might include a national title run, but he’s starting to emerge in the discussion as the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

3. Anthony Gordon - Washington State

Washington State averages 54 passes a game, so the Cougars’ quarterback is going to put up huge numbers. Last season, Wazzu QB Gardner Minshew threw for 4,779 yards with 38 touchdowns and nine picks, he got all kinds of Heisman hype and he was the talk of college football. Gordon is flying under the radar to some degree even though he already has 4,314 passing yards with one more touchdown than Minshew in only nine games. Get this man a mustache and maybe the national media will pay attention.

4. Justin Fields - Ohio State

Imagine the fantasy numbers Fields could put up if he was playing entire games. He isn’t because Ohio State is blowing everybody out and yet the Georgia transfer has 2,164 yards with 31 touchdowns and only one pick plus 10 rushing touchdowns. Anybody in the country would want Fields as their quarterback, including his old school I’m betting even though Jake Fromm is hardly a slouch. Still, Fields has been awesome in Ohio State’s offense and he has weapons all over the field.

5. Sam Ehlinger - Texas

Texas is a disappointing 6-4 this season and the Longhorns close the regular season against Baylor and Texas Tech but Ehlinger is delivering from a fantasy perspective at No. 5 among all quarterbacks. The former four-star has thrown for 2,914 yards with 27 touchdowns and eight picks along with five rushing scores. The Longhorns have not had a great season but Ehlinger has and that’s why he’s drawn Tim Tebow-like comparisons.

DUDS

1. Shea Patterson - Michigan

Patterson is playing well and Michigan’s offense has been revamped - just ask Michigan State’s poor defense - but from a fantasy perspective his numbers haven’t met the hype leading into this season where the Wolverines’ defense was supposed to be revamped and Patterson was to have a huge season. The former five-star quarterback has 2,157 yards with 16 touchdowns and four picks with five rushing scores but he’s still outside the top-25 quarterbacks in fantasy points.

2. Adrian Martinez - Nebraska

Nebraska is 4-6, the Huskers have lost four straight and after preseason Heisman hype, Martinez has not delivered during another tough season in Lincoln. Owned in 66 percent of leagues, the former four-star quarterback has thrown for 1,712 yards with only eight touchdowns and seven picks. He’s also rushed for six TDs but it’s a disappointing season no matter how you cut it.

3. Khalil Tate - Arizona

Tate had 26 passing touchdowns and 8 INTs last season in 11 games. Through nine this year, he has 12 with the same number of interceptions and Grant Gunnell has been putting up decent numbers in Arizona’s offense as well. The former four-star quarterback should be a fantasy machine because of his dual-threat abilities, but he only has 78 carries and three rushing scores this year as he’s asked to be in the pocket more.

4. Kelly Bryant - Missouri

There was so much hope for Bryant when he transferred from Clemson to Missouri because the Tigers have a bevy of talented pass-catchers, but it’s been hot and cold this season and Missouri failed to score a touchdown for the second-straight game against Florida this past weekend. Still owned in half of leagues, Bryant has just 2,049 passing yards with 14 touchdowns and six picks. In four-straight losses, Missouri hasn’t scored more than 14 points.

5. Jake Fromm - Georgia

Fromm remains one of college football’s top quarterbacks and he led Georgia to a tough win at Auburn this past weekend, but from a fantasy perspective he’s just not great. The Bulldogs have so many running options that Fromm doesn’t post huge numbers - 1,968 passing yards with 16 TDs and three interceptions - and he’s ranked No. 45 overall for fantasy points at his position.
