1. Peyton Hendershot, Indiana
The Hoosiers have been one of the biggest surprises among Power Five programs so far this season with a 7-2 record and Hendershot has been a big reason why. Indiana’s tight end has 29 catches for 393 yards and he’s tied for a team-high with four touchdown catches. The ball gets spread around in Indiana’s passing attack but Hendershot gets his opportunities. Owned in just 45 percent of leagues, Hendershot is seventh among all tight ends in fantasy points.
2. Jalen Wydermyer, Texas A&M
The Aggies have a trio of outstanding receivers that are big-time targets for quarterback Kellen Mond, but when it comes to scoring Texas A&M looks to its tight end and it’s paid off in a big way. Wydermyer has only 19 catches for 287 yards so far this season but he has a team-high six TDs. Owned in 55 percent of leagues, Wydermyer could have another big day against South Carolina this weekend.
3. Cary Angeline, NC State
Angeline is fifth on NC State in catches with only 23 along with 369 yards, but he leads the team with four TD receptions as only one other player has more than one this season. NC State’s passing attack isn’t scaring anybody but Angeline is a threat and so he could keep seeing the ball down the stretch. He’s only owned in 21 percent of leagues but he has better stats than a lot of higher-profile players at the position.
4. Devin Asiasi, UCLA
The start of the season was completely and utterly miserable for UCLA as the Bruins didn’t score more than 14 points in losses to Cincinnati, San Diego State and Oklahoma. But the last three weeks have been fantastic as UCLA has won by double digits over Stanford, Arizona State and Colorado. Asiasi has emerged with 26 catches for 329 yards and three touchdowns. The Michigan transfer is a big target and is demanding a bigger role in the offense even though he’s owned in just 31 percent of leagues.
5. Pro Wells, TCU
He has 16 catches for 189 yards all season and Wells is supposed to be a recommendation for fantasy leagues this week? You bet, because Wells leads the Horned Frogs with five touchdown receptions, one more than even star receiver Jalen Reagor. Wells, an obvious red zone target, is owned in only two percent of leagues, so it’s virtually guaranteed you can get him this weekend against Texas Tech if you’re looking for a tight end spark to make the playoffs.
