Cal: State of the 2017 class

RELATED: PAC-12 2017 class updates

Conference rank: 10

National rank: 65

Headliner: Three-star quarterback Chase Garbers

Overview: Four-star receiver/tight end Taariq Johnson is the highest-ranked prospect in Cal’s recruiting class but Garbers was a huge pickup for the Golden Bears because he has proven to be one of the top quarterbacks in the West this offseason. Sonny Dykes and his staff should be able to maximize Garbers’ abilities and he could be the team leader in the coming years. Cal has recruited athletic players all over the field and Garbers has the throwing ability to deliver the ball to them.
