MIAMI -- The Rivals 3 Strip Camp presented by adidas in Miami is firmly in the rear-view mirror. With all the interviews and evaluations out of the way, Rivals.com takes a shot a guessing where some of the event’s top prospects may land come Signing Day 2018.
The latest: Cook is committed to Florida State, but is still looking around. He recently released a top eight that seemed to fly in the face of his commitment status. According to the five-star running back’s list, Miami, Florida, Auburn, USC, Alabama, LSU, Oregon and Georgia are still in the mix for his pledge.
Prediction: Florida is probably the only real school with any shot to flip Cook, and even that is unlikely. He’ll likely follow his brother’s footsteps to Florida State and sign with the Seminoles. This seems like the case of a prospect enjoying the recruiting process.
The latest: Some say Blades is already a silent Miami commitment, but the four-star defensive back disputes such a claim. Tennessee is involved due to the fact that Blades’ first high school coach, Kevin Beard, was recently hired as an assistant coach in Knoxville.
Prediction: Miami, Miami, Miami. Stealing Blades away from the Hurricanes would take something just short of a paranormal act. Well, that, or a calamitous season in Coral Gables.
The latest: Florida, Miami and Ohio State seem like three of the most likely landing places for Moore, who has former teammates in Columbus but also sees the allure of the in-state programs.
Prediction: A case for Moore landing at either Miami or Florida could easily be made, but the Hurricanes hold an edge for now. Moore has been high on Mark Richt’s program for months now. Things could change drastically if UM fills up at wide receiver.
The latest: Austin has a top eight consisting of USC, Notre Dame, Miami, Duke, Florida, Ohio State, Tennessee and Kentucky. He will visit Notre Dame on April 21, but the Irish seems to be chasing Florida.
Prediction: Austin is by no means a lock to UF, but the Gators are certainly where the smart money is for now. Notre Dame could insert itself if the upcoming visit goes well. A looming Stanford offer could shake things up.
The latest: Watt says Florida and Tennessee lead his recruitment. He plans to visit USF, UCF, Florida and Florida State in June, but it seems like the Gators and Vols will battle this one out down the stretch.
Prediction: It’s a cop out to say either Florida or Tennessee, but it seems Watt could seriously go either way. If one program takes a massive step forward on the field this fall, the 6-foot-1 athlete could be swayed. For now Florida holds a slight edge, but only because of the allure of staying in-state.
The latest: A one-time Auburn commit, Hicks says Oregon and Louisville are deadlocked atop his list. He hopes to visit Louisville, Georgia, Florida and Western Kentucky this spring.
Prediction: Louisville seems to be the team to beat here. Hicks enjoys the idea of Oregon, but traveling across the country for school is probably not in the cards for the massive linebacker.
