Three-star DE Corey Adams Jr. commits to Ole Miss

More than a year ago, Ole Miss was the first college football program to extend an offer in the direction of Corey Adams Jr.

Now, the Rebels have landed their guy.

Adams, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound strongside defensive end from New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr High, committed to Ole Miss over LSU, TCU and Mississippi State.

The Rebels turned up the heat on Adams during his June 14-16 official visit to campus.

"Three things that stand out to me in picking a school is does the school have the major I want, the bonds of the team and with the coaches, and winning and being competitive 24-7," Adams told Rivals. "They hit on all of my big points at some point in the visit and they matched my energy field-wise."

The Ole Miss coaches struck a chord with Adams in a big way, and that only grew stronger after officially visiting Oxford on June 14-16.

DC Pete Golding extended Adams his first offer as a sophomore. Randall Joyner has been meshing with Adams for the past few weeks.

Those bonds loomed large as Adams reached a decision.

"Making a decision is definitely hard when you're considering so many things and making sure everything is spot on," he started. "The visit made a stronger bond for sure with the coaches, especially with Coach Joyner ... I see him as a future DC ... he is a young, intelligent coach. His talks hit me the hardest ... I'm not gonna lie."

"Over there, they asked me what I would want to be in their scheme instead of just telling me where I would be, and I liked that," the defensive end laughed.

LSU and TCU also coveted the New Orleans defensive end, who felt a change in environment was the best move.

"The visit to Ole Miss was definitely an environment change from what I’m used to," Adams explained. "I was liking the message from the coaches as well as the academic standpoint of the school."

"This summer, they have been recruiting me hard," Adams continued. "I've talked a lot with Coach Pete and Coach Joyner, and lately, I've been talking a lot with Coach Joyner."
