Quarterback

Farrell’s take: Who else do you take but the Heisman winner and the best football player in college football?

Running Backs

Farrell’s take: Love had an amazing season and Johnson was the key to the Auburn offense. It’s hard to find a better 1-2 punch than these guys.

Wide Receivers

Farrell’s take: Washington is the best deep threat in the country. Miller reminds me of Antonio Brown in how he can get open and make any catch. These two are amazing.

Tight End

Farrell’s take: The biggest and best target in any passing game at tight end, Andrews took things to the next level this season.

Offensive Tackles

Farrell’s take: Brown was an overweight three-star out of high school who has turned himself into a great player. Williams went from five-star to starter right away and has been key to the Alabama playoff run.

Offensive Guards

Farrell’s take: Nelson is the best offensive lineman in the country and is dominant at run blocking as well as in pass protection. Smith is arguably the most athletic guard in college football.

Center

Farrell’s take: You could swap Price and Will Clapp, as both are so crucial to their offensive success.

All-Purpose

Farrell’s take: Between being a running back, pass catcher and return man, he’s the most dangerous weapon in the country.

FIRST-TEAM DEFENSE

Defensive Ends

Farrell’s take: Chubb is amazing in every aspect from pass rushing to holding the edge. Bosa is always pressuring the quarterback even if he doesn’t get into the stat sheet.

Defensive Tackles

Farrell’s take: It’s hard to leave off Ed Oliver, but these two change the offensive scheme as much as anyone at defensive tackle.

Linebackers

Farrell’s take: Put this group together and watch the hits. Smith is quick twitch, Jewell is instinctual and Holland comes off the edge better than anyone.

Cornerbacks

Farrell’s take: Jackson has the best ball skills in the country and has shown it. Ward is the next athletic freak in the Ohio State secondary to become a first-rounder.

Safeties

Farrell’s take: The ‘Bama teammates can’t be beaten as each brings something different to the table but can impact in so many ways.

SECOND-TEAM OFFENSE

Quarterback

Farrell’s take: The Heisman finalist didn’t have the same talent around him and still put up ridiculous numbers.

Running Back

Farrell’s take: A true freshman and a former three-star. These guys are fun to watch and bring sneaky speed.

Wide Receivers

Farrell’s take: Two athletic freaks at wide receiver for teams that don’t get a ton of national attention. Hard to leave Davis Sills (West Virginia) off here, but these guys have been excellent.

Tight End

Farrell’s take: A superior athlete at his position, he gets the nod over Troy Fumagalli (Wisconsin) in a tight battle.

Offensive Tackles

Farrell’s take: Hyatt is an elite pass blocker, and Deiter is an elite run blocker – but each can do it all.

Offensive Guards

Farrell’s take: O’Connell has great technique and Wynn is a guy who has really stepped up his game to the next level this season.

Offensive Center

Farrell’s take: Clapp is the key to his offense.

All-Purpose

Farrell’s take: Tate was a one-man gang this year for Arizona and couldn’t be stopped running the ball. which made him even tougher to defend as a passer.

SECOND-TEAM DEFENSE

Defensive Ends

Farrell’s take: Ferrell still gets the slight nod over his teammate Austin Bryant and Okoronkwo has taken his game to the next level.

Defensive Tackles

Farrell’s take: Two former five-stars we expected to be stars have panned out well so far.

Linebackers

Farrell’s take: Jefferson had a bad start in game one but after that was lights out. White is the best player on a talented defense and Hudson does a bit of everything for Michigan.

Cornerbacks

Farrell’s take: Davis has his lapses but his size and length allow him to make plays others can’t. Dawson quietly had a great season despite the Gators' struggles.

Safeties

Farrell’s take: James has been very good just not as great as many expected while Elliott has shown some of the best ball skills in the country.
