NFL DRAFT STOCK REPORT: QBs | RBs | WRs/TEs | OL | DT | DE

THE STORYLINE

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. recently released his Big Board for the 2019 draft and defensive end Nick Bosa was on the top.

That release happened prior to the news on Tuesday that Bosa would withdraw from Ohio State and focus on rehabilitating his core muscle injury and preparing for the NFL Draft.

In three games this season, Bosa totaled 14 tackles, including six for loss and four sacks. He also added two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Bosa was injured in the second half of the Buckeyes’ win over TCU on Sept. 15 and has not played since.

Th 2019 NFL Draft class is incredibly loaded along the defensive line.

Bosa might lead the way, but Houston DT Ed Oliver, Alabama’s Quinnen Williams and Raekwon Davis, Clemson’s Clelin Ferrell, Florida State’s Brian Burns, Michigan’s Rashan Gary, Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat and Jeffery Simmons and many others could earn a first-round grade.

Should Bosa be the first pick in the draft or will his stock slide especially with such a loaded defensive line group?

TAKE ONE: KEVIN NOON, BUCKEYEGROVE.COM

“I don’t think that (his injury) should have any direct impact on his draft position based on the body of work that he has put up already and the fact that multiple experts have come out and said that a core muscle injury should not directly impact his future NFL career. Ultimately it is going to come down to need and that Bosa and Oliver are very different types of players in terms of positions. Both are difference-makers. Oliver does it inside and Bosa does it from the defensive end position.”

TAKE TWO: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM

“I would take him first. We had him as our No. 1 guy early. The injury is not a long-term thing so I wouldn’t really worry about it. A quarterback will probably go first and it wouldn’t surprise me if (Oregon quarterback) Justin Herbert goes first. I would take Bosa first.

"However, I don’t like the fact that his quit on his teammates and that could be a red flag. Talent-wise he’s No. 1, but he’s showing a lack of dedication to the sport in many ways.”
