Rutgers gets twin commitments

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights received some good news today, news that will help shore up their defensive line -- twofold.
"The twins committed to Rutgers," said Jersey City (N.J.) Hudson Catholic head coach Rob Stern of twin defensive tackles Darren and Joe Salinardi. "They had offers from South Carolina, Indiana and UConn as well, but Rutgers did a great job recruiting them."

In fact, the 6-foot-4, 285-pounders chose Rutgers mainly because of the work of their recruiting coach.
"I think Mark D'Onofrio did a great job recruitng them from day one they loved the facilities and really enjoyed the coaching staff," said Stern. "I think that the chance for mom and dad to see them close to home didn't hurt either, they are a very close family. I think it's a great fit for them and I am hapy for Greg Schiano and rutgers to keep another two top players in state."
UConn was expected to come into school today to make on last pitch and a visit to see the Huskies is still possible, although unlikely.
"I think they're pretty solid," he said. "They seem happy with their choice."
