PROGRAMS WITH TOP COMMITS: LSU, Clemson, Notre Dame

The top four offensive tackles in the 2022 class – Julian Armella, Kam Dewberry, Zach Rice and Devon Campbell – remain uncommitted so there could still be significant moving in this section moving forward. But right now LSU, Clemson and Notre Dame have the best offensive line classes early on.

Ranked No. 29 national and moving up 57 spots in the latest rankings release, Will Campbell committed to LSU at the end of January and it was a big – albeit expected – recruiting win for Ed Orgeron and his staff to keep the Monroe (La.) Neville standout home.

Clemson and Notre Dame are the only two programs to each have two offensive line prospects committed from the Rivals250. The Tigers landed Rivals100 in-state prospect Collin Sadler from Greenville, S.C., and went to Strongsville, Ohio, for massive four-star offensive tackle Blake Miller, who checks in at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds.

Notre Dame is off to a strong start as well landing four-star offensive guard Joey Tanona out of Zionsville, Ind., and then going to Groton (Mass.) Lawrence Academy for four-star offensive tackle Ty Chan.

Penn State, Ohio State and Texas A&M each have one Rivals250 offensive lineman committed as well.

PROSPECT ON THE RISE: Devon Campbell

The Arlington (Texas) Bowie prospect only moved up six spots but Campbell moved into the coveted five-star status and that was a major discussion through the rankings meetings.

Now ranked No. 20 overall, Campbell can shift across the offensive line, which gives him position versatility at the next level. He’s a butt-kicker, a guy who looks to drive people into the ground and be more physical than any defensive lineman he faces. Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and many others will be involved in Campbell’s recruitment.

PROSPECT TO WATCH: Ryan Brubaker

Brubaker only has single-digit Power Five offers but his recruitment is picking up pace with his new highlight reel released. Many national programs could be getting much more interested in the coming months.

Tucked away at tiny Denver (Pa.) Cocalico, Brubaker is an athletic prospect at 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds but he also likes to mix it up physically and knock defenders around. If college coaches are allowed to hit the road and Brubaker gets in front of top college coaches, his offer list could explode. The pandemic might not allow that for a few months but it should happen at some point – and his recruitment took a big step Tuesday night when Penn State offered.

So far, Arizona State, Duke, Ole Miss, Missouri, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee and Wake Forest are Brubaker’s Power Five offers but it wouldn’t be shocking to see many more coming his way soon.
