Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney don’t always see eye to eye. In this edition of Rival Views, the two debate whether LSU’s loss to Mississippi State or Oklahoma’s loss to Kansas State was more consequential?

FARRELL'S TAKE: K-State over Oklahoma
To me, the Oklahoma loss will have a much bigger impact on college football because it could lead to the elimination of a Big 12 team in the playoff. Texas looked horrible in a come-from-behind OT win over Texas Tech and the Sooners will need to be perfect from here on out and likely get some help to overcome another bad loss to Kansas State. You have to hand it to Chris Klieman and his staff as they’ve done this to OU two years in a row and already shook up the Big 12.

GORNEY'S TAKE: Mississippi State over LSU
In early September, I wrote that it was possible that LSU could go from national champions to a 6-4 season. There were just too many question marks across the board, too many uncertainties to be so confident that the Tigers could run the table – or even come close – after losing 14 players to the NFL.
After Saturday’s poor performance against Mississippi State, 6-4 looks not only possible but probable with Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Texas A&M on the schedule. Even Ole Miss will give LSU’s defense similar headaches that Mississippi State did.
I know Derek Stingley was a late scratch and he could have shut down one side of the field but come on, the Tigers allowed 623 passing yards to transfer quarterback K.J. Costello. Where are all the people who said the offense of first-year Mississippi State coach Mike Leach wouldn't work in the mighty SEC? Well, it sure seemed to work just fine and "DBU" got some comeuppance on Saturday evening.
So quickly, LSU seems to have lots of issues. There’s no dynamic running back. Quarterback Myles Brennan waits too long to make plays. Other than Terrace Marshall, there are no playmakers in the receiving game? The offensive line is a complete rebuild.
I don’t want to overreact and LSU could still salvage a quality season but what I saw on Saturday in Baton Rouge was not good. This could be a long season for the defending champs.
