TAKE TWO: Is Florida the team to beat for five-star Leonard Manuel?

BRADENTON, Fla. – The Ray Lewis linebacker academy attracted some of the nation’s top linebackers and pitted them against running backs from all over the nation. Rivals.com took the opportunity to survey the attendees on which college they feel rightfully holds the title of Linebacker U. The answers, which were wide-ranging, are listed below.

LINEBACKER RANKINGS: 2019 | 2020

1. ALABAMA

“I’ve watched Alabama for the last four years and they come out with the best linebackers every year, including one of the best I’ve ever seen in Reuben Foster.” – Rivals250 Ole Miss linebacker/athlete commit Diwun Black

“Clearly, I’m committed to Clemson, but I would just say Alabama. Their defense is always outstanding – and so is Clemson’s – but as a kid I just always looked up to Alabama and their linebackers. Now that I’m going to Clemson I look into their linebackers and see how well I fit.” – Rivals250 Clemson linebacker commit Bryton Constantin

“Alabama. All the linebackers they recruit and all the guys they put into the NFL.” – Class of 2021 linebacker Nathan Kelly

“Because they have beasts like Reuben Foster. They put guys in the first round, like, every year. They always have those beasts.” – Class of 2020 linebacker Chance Coleman

“They just got some dogs at linebackers. That’s why.” – Rivals250 LSU linebacker commit Zach Edwards

“To be honest ... The most hard-hitting linebackers (are at) Alabama and Clemson. Those are the ones I really remember. They just come downhill hard. I’ve watched Reuben Foster’s film. He’s really raw, just a great player.” – Class of 2020 three-star linebacker Stephen Dix Jr.

“I’ll say Alabama for the obvious one.” - Three-star athlete Jashon Watkins

2. MIAMI

“When I think of linebackers I mostly think of Miami. Back when I first started playing linebacker I was watching these videos on YouTube, and Miami had one of the hardest linebacker corps back in the '80s and '90s. So Miami is kind of the first thing I think of when I think of linebackers.” – Class of 2020 linebacker Giovanni Morgan

“They have good linebackers and good coaches. Ray Lewis played there and they have the three good linebackers right now.” – Four-star linebacker Mikel Jones

“Look who came out of there. I mean, Ray Lewis.” – Class of 2020 defensive/linebacker Devon Betty

“I think it’s Miami because of Ray Lewis and those guys.” – Rivals250 Miami linebacker commit Anthony Solomon

3. GEORGIA

“I feel like the schools with the best linebackers has to be Georgia or Alabama. They are the teams with the best defenses and they went to the national championship game. I see them do work year-round and I feel like they work to be the best” – Class of 2020 linebacker Hyland Generlette

“I like the guys they have there, like Roquan Smith.” - Class of 2020 linebacker A.J. Mathis

T-4. LSU

“It’s going to be Auburn, but right now it’s probably LSU.” – Auburn commit Owen Pappoe

T-4. NEBRASKA

“I’ll say Nebraska. Nebraska always has those big white dudes.”—North Carolina commit Allen Smith
