One team recruiting the hardest

Isaiah Simmons is not just a great safety, but the 6-foot-3 and 212-pound recruit could easily be considered as just an elite athlete. Simmons is starring for Olathe (Kans.) North on both sides of the football -- multiple positions on offense -- and is getting a great chance to show that he can support stopping the run as much as he can stop the pass.
"We have been doing good so far," Simmons said. "We lost the first game of the season, but we are 2-1 now. I start both ways playing wide receiver and safety. Offensively I will play wide receiver, slot and running back. I also come in as the wildcat quarterback.

"On defense, a lot of teams are just going the opposite way and don't try to challenge me. Things get a little boring which is good and bad. They do count on me to support the the run."
Simmons hasn't allowed for recruiting and all of the offers to become a distraction. He's focused on the season. He says that he will be taking some visits soon and he's not entirely sure to where on all of them. He knows of one though which is a bit of a homecoming in some ways.
"I am not getting too caught up in recruiting," Simmons said. "I think that I am going to take some visits soon, but I am not sure where. I think that I am going to Nebraska when they play against Wisconsin. I was born and raised in Omaha, Neb., but never even been to a game there before."
The Nebraska staff has clearly been putting their best foot forward with Simmons according to him. He sees it and he's feeling it. He says that he has literally spoken with the whole staff and says it's evident that the Huskers want him the most.
"Since last season I have been talking to Coach Hank Hughes," Simmons said. "I have spoken with Coach Brian Stewart and I talk with Head Coach Mike Riley. I have actually talked with about eight coaches from Nebraska. I definitely think that Nebraska wants me the most based on how they have recruited me."
