Maryland lands local DE Dylan Gooden
Maryland is hoping for a big finish to the 2023 recruiting cycle and landing a commitment from defensive end Dylan Gooden is a good start. Gooden played his high school career at Olney (Md.) Good Counsel but transferred to Columbia (Md.) Wilde Lake to finish his senior year.

RIVALS' REACTION
Gooden is an impressive athlete on the outside of the defensive. He does a good job getting to the ball carrier and has the athletic traits to develop into a pass rushing defensive end who can also drop into coverage when necessary. He has a big frame but is very lean so he'll need to fill out before seeing meaningful playing time. Gooden relies on his speed and athleticism to get by linemen that try to block him. He has been effective in passing situations because he has a good understanding of proper hand techniques but he'll need to get stronger remain effective at the next level.
WHY IT'S BIG FOR MARYLAND
Maryland needed to restock the defensive front with players like Gooden and now the last two players to commit to the Terps have been defensive ends. Maryland has lost a few defensive ends to the transfer portal so adding depth at the position is a priority. Gooden has some strong connections in the local area that could help Maryland down the road. Even if he doesn't make a huge impact on the field, Gooden could help the Terps on the recruiting front.
