Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit High School athlete Larry Hodges is waiting for something to shake. The 6-foot-1 prospect has been receiving recruiting interest for more than a year now. Major schools have inquired and conversations are ongoing. Thing on the scholarship offer front, however, are quiet.

Despite being a class-of-2019 prospect, Hodges is hoping that changes sooner than later.

“The dream school for me is kind of Miami,” Hodges said. “They produce a lot of tight ends and play a fun offense.”

Hodges, who started as a wide receiver but is quickly growing into a tight end has more than two years before he’ll sign a letter of intent. Offers will arrive and he’ll likely have plenty of options from which to choose.

For now, however, he’s looking for a chance. His interest in some schools is stronger than his interest in others.

“I’m basically waiting for things to happen but I know I want to visit Virginia Tech, Florida State and Ole Miss for sure,” Hodges said. “It’s early for me, but those are the ones I know.”

The buzz surrounding him is growing. And Hodges shows a bit of optimism when it comes to how quickly his recruitment may develop. Without a single offer to his name, the sophomore sets an aggressive timetable for a commitment.

“I want to get it done, like, this summer,” Hodges said. “Before the season even if I can.”

RIVALS REACTION: Guessing where Hodges may land at this juncture is drawing a name from a hat. He lists Miami as a “dream” school but that may turn out to mean nothing if an offer never arrives or another program piques his interest. Hodges could make multiple commitments between now and Signing Day 2019.
