The last month and change have included no shortage of twists and turns for four-star WR Phillip Wright III as the speedster from The Boot looked to put a bow on his recruitment.

Now, he's done just that.

Days after backing off his short-lived verbal to Michigan, Wright committed to LSU. The Destrehan (La.) High School four-star made a visit back to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash before returning to Ann Arbor.

Once the LSU staff turned up the heat on Wright, he saw an even more intriguing opportunity close to home.

"It's been a crazy process," Wright started. "I was wishing for these offers, then now I'm really getting them. I've been discussing plans with different coaches, talking to different coaches, trying to decide what's best for me and what's best for my family."

"Over the past two weeks I've been talking to their staff and looking at their plan," he continued on the LSU coaches. "If you look at how they recruit in-state receivers, they come on late. You look at Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Malik Nabers, some of the best people that came through LSU."

"I've got a big chip on my shoulder," he added. "I can be the next great thing to come out of LSU."

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder has blazing speed and big-play ability, and is set for what should be a very productive senior season at Destrehan High just outside of New Orleans.

Wright worked out in front of Cortez Hankton and sat down with Brian Kelly in June, then returned to campus late last month. The LSU staff hasn't taken their foot off the gas with Wright ever since.

"Being able to talk to them and see what type of plan I'd have with them, see how I can be used, and getting to pick their brain and ask them questions to make sure I'm in the best situation," he detailed.

"Coach Hankton is a great coach," Wright continued. "He's coached some of the best talents at different schools and two of the best at LSU. It shows he can get you there. You've got to put the work in and he'll help you with an opportunity to play. He puts the best people on the field, but you've got to want it. If you want it, they let you have all the success you want."

Wright's change of heart comes on the heels of reopening his recruitment on Sunday -- days after returning back to Ann Arbor and then a flood of NCAA allegations against the program.

The four-star WR is set to begin his senior season in a few days and finally has put a bow on his recruitment.

"This process was crazy," he started. "By committing to LSU, there's a whole lot of pressure off me. I can focus on my senior year and I think this will help a lot."

"I feel good. I'm happy, I'm grateful, I'm blessed and ready to work," Wright added. "Everything at LSU feels like home."
