Aashari Crosswell took an important visit to Arizona State this weekend.

He loved it.

And the four-star defensive back from powerhouse Long Beach (Calif.) Poly hit it off with the new coaching staff which now includes his former high school coach Antonio Pierce.

“What stood out to me was talking with coach Herm (Edwards),” Crosswell said.

“I heard so much about him and what type of coach he is, someone you could trust, and it’s really big because Antonio Pierce is a guy I know who could take care of me like he did at Poly.”

Pierce left Long Beach Poly to become Arizona State’s linebackers coach in recent weeks and it could pay off huge dividends in recruiting as well.

It certainly helps in Crosswell’s recruitment to have Pierce on the Sun Devils’ coaching staff.

“It’s all about who you can trust at the end of the day and I do trust Antonio,” Crosswell said. “He never told me wrong and that’s big to me.”

The four-star defensive back wants to visit TCU before making a commitment but has had limited communication with the Horned Frogs’ staff. Washington State, Nebraska and many others also remain involved in his recruitment.
