1. Kellen Mond is correct.

Farrell’s take: FICTION. Mond tweeted that all of the SEC teams on the Aggies' win docket would run the table in other conferences. He’s wrong. Vanderbilt (0-9)? Arkansas (3-7)? Mississippi State (3-7)? South Carolina (2-8)? LSU (5-5)? Auburn (6-4)? Tennessee (3-7)?

Let’s slow our roll, Kellen. Yes, Alabama would run any table and Florida might in the Pac-12 or Big 12, but let’s be real. I get the frustration and I like the fire, but there’s no way your SEC schedule was a killer.

Gorney’s take: FICTION. There is an inflated sense of self in the SEC where those teams think no one else even plays college football. At the top end they’re probably right with Alabama perhaps being by far the best team in the country. But the middle of the pack and the lower teams are nothing special.

He also retweeted that “no game in the SEC is guaranteed.” And they are elsewhere? I understand Mond’s frustration and A&M should be in the playoff, but nine of the conference teams are .500 or worse. This is a top-heavy league with some real snoozers in there, too.

2. Oregon and Iowa State is an intriguing bowl matchup.

Farrell’s take: FICTION. I wish it was because it’s a conference winner against a conference runner-up, but let’s be real. Oregon has lost so many players this year to opt-outs or injury and Iowa State is a nice little story but a bit boring to watch. This Fiesta Bowl will be a snooze.

Gorney’s take: FACT. Perhaps it’s because I’m already going through college football withdrawal, but I’m interested in this matchup for one main reason: There has been so much discussion about which Power Five conference is the worst in college football. Now the Ducks and Cyclones can settle it once and for all. Maybe not, but still, Iowa State’s line is going to have a very tough time dealing with Kayvon Thibodeaux’s speed off the edge and the Ducks’ speed on offense, but Iowa State is powerful and well-coached. It makes for an interesting matchup.

3. Oklahoma and Florida will total 90 or more points.

Farrell’s take: FACT. This is gonna be a shoutout even without Kyle Pitts for Florida. There is so much offensive talent on each team and the defenses are up and down, so I expect this to be a 51-48 kind of game.

Gorney’s take: FICTION. I’m going with Vegas and recent trends and while I do like the over 71 in this matchup, I’m not sure the Cotton Bowl becomes a shootout and gets to 90 points. Oklahoma’s offense has been rather tame in recent wins over Baylor and Iowa State and Florida’s defensive backs are still pretty talented.

On the other side, the Sooners’ defense will want to prove something against Kyle Trask and the Gators, and without Pitts, this is a different group. I’ll take 42-31 one way or another but 90 is too much.
