With the majority of the 2019 recruiting class already signed and just a select few big names still on the market, we thought it would be a good time to give the elite prospects from the class the opportunity to reflect on the recruiting process. In a series we are calling “Exit Survey” we polled some of the nation’s top talents at the recent all-star games to get their thoughts on notable recruiting topics.

Today’s question: What has been your most awkward encounter with a coach? You don't have to name the coach.

“I mean, probably like hugging me. And not just hugging me. You can hug me to an extent to where, like, it’s cool. This guy held on too long. He held on a long time. You know? Definitely that.”

“I was sitting in this head coach’s office and he asked me a question and looked at him and he looked back at me and he smiled and then went right back to a straight face and then just stared at me. I didn’t really know what facial reaction to make and it was a very awkward moment.”

“I was in a coach’s office and at first you’re not familiar with one another so I was just sitting there and we would talk, then there was awkward silence, then talk, then silence. It was very awkward.”

“I think he was from either Wake Forest or Purdue -- one of those two. He was just … he was awkward. I’m here trying to build a connection and it was just hard with him. I was like, ‘C’mon man, you gotta give me something to work with here.”

“Really just getting blown up by the same coach when I told them I didn’t want to go there. I think that’s the most stressful thing. I don’t want to get too deep into it.”

“There was one coach that was just too hype for me. I was like … whoa. Alright, you lit, Coach.”
