In a whirlwind recruitment that began with a great camp performance in Chicago, Illinois landed Chicago St. Rita linebacker Marc Mondesir on Sunday night.
A speedy outside linebacker at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Mondesir is a rising but yet unranked in-state athlete.
After evaluating Mondesir at two camps, including a another strong performance in Champaign, the Illinois staff worked quickly to lock him up before his recruitment took off.
With the newest commitment, the second of the day for Illinois, the Illini's list of homegrown talent continues to grow.
"Besides the great coaching staff and the fact that it's my home state, Illinois has been a school that I have always wanted to be a part of," Mondesir told EdgyTim.com.
Mondesir joins Rockford (Ill.) Auburn offensive lineman Vederian Lowe as the newest members of the Illinois class of 2017.
It didn't take long for Mondesir to make the call for the Illini after Sunday's camp.
"After discussing it with my family, I knew it would be the right choice for me," he said.
