The 2021 offensive tackle class is loaded with superior talent at the top and there is a lot of potential for big movement throughout the recruiting cycle because there are so many good players who could emerge and make a run for No. 1.
As it stands now, Cochran (Ga.) Bleckley County’s Amarius Mims leads the way followed by Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints Episcopal’s Tommy Brockermeyer, the two five-star offensive tackles so far in the class.
After that, there will be a whole lot of debate and discussion about how the position should be ranked.

Notre Dame commit Blake Fisher is a monster at 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds, and he’s right on the five-star cusp, ranked third at the position. Fairfax (Va.) Robinson’s Tristan Leigh is an athletic and physical offensive tackle who absolutely owned the National Combine in San Antonio over the holidays.
Olney (Md.) Good Counsel’s Landon Tengwall recently impressed at the Under Armour Future 50 event, along with Michigan pledge Giovanni El-Hadi. Ohio State commit Donovan Jackson looked great at the recent Houston stop of the Rivals Camp Series.
Litiz (Pa.) Warwick’s Nolan Rucci and Nebraska pledge Teddy Prochazka are huge offensive tackles that can move and be physical at the same time. And Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County’s Terrence Ferguson rounds out the top 10.
Last recruiting cycle, there were four offensive tackles who ended up with a five-star ranking and Georgia cleaned up with Broderick Jones and Tate Ratledge. Ohio State’s Paris Johnson Jr. and Stanford’s Myles Hinton also achieved that ranking.
FARRELL'S TAKE
We ask Rivals National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell whether he’s dead-set on keeping Mims as the top offensive tackle throughout this recruiting cycle or if someone can eclipse him. We also ask him to name some offensive tackles he has his eye on for a potential move up to that five-star level?
“I’m not dead set on anything this early, but honestly Mims is special and has a chance to be our first No. 1 overall offensive lineman in Rivals history. I do like Brockermeyer a lot as well and we’ll see how he recovers from his injury and I can see a couple more five-star offensive linemen — Fisher, Leigh, Tengwall and perhaps others — in this class. But I’m sold on Mims right now.”
