White impressed by Terps

With six offers and only a few visits under his belt, Antoine White still has a long way to go in the recruiting process. The defensive tackle from Millville (N.J.) recently took a trip to Maryland.
"I visited Maryland and I was really impressed," said the 6-foot-3, 255-pound White. "I want to major in criminal justice and they have a very good criminal justice department. My mom and dad think very highly of that. We talked about their switch to the Big Ten. I've been building a relationship with the coaches and I got to talk to some of the players there, including some from the 2013 class. Overall, we were very impressed by the visit and I definitely need to get back there during the spring. It's a great area and they're looking to build as a program. I talked to their strength coach and I like the way he does things.

"They're in very good position right now," he said. "I don't think I'll commit until I'm sure that I'm making the right choice and I've seen some other places. They're definitely high on my list because of the academics and how focused the staff is."
The Terps aren't the only school going after White.
"I'd say Maryland and Rutgers are recruiting me the hardest," White said. "I built a relationship early on with the coaches at Rutgers.. I get hand written letters from them every other day and they even send letters to my parents.
"Out of the schools that haven't offered yet, Georgia Tech has been sending me a lot of letters and emails," he said. "I know they are a good academic school and about what happened with Damon Mitchell. Nebraska just started talking to my coach."
White will be busy this offseason taking some unofficial visits but he also employs an unconventional training method.
"I've been working out a lot and doing yoga," said White. "I know it sounds funny but it has been helping me with my flexibility. Other than that, I just want to take as many visits as possible. That way, when it comes down to decision time, I've seen places so I can start narrowing the list as quick as possible. I also want to focus on my senior year and have some fun.
"I'd like to get to Boston College and North Carolina," he said. "We're trying to set up a date to get up to Michigan and I'm going to UCF on May 30."
White has a good idea of how he wants his recruitment to progress.
"Since players normally get the bulk of their offers during the spring, I want to start narrowing the list down in the summer," White said. "Hopefully I can make my decision before football season starts. If I'm not sure, I'll take those official visits and get it done in the fall. I just want to be honest with the coaches because I see so many players commit and de-commit and take a bunch of visits. I want to find one place and stick to it."
White has offers from Boston College, Maryland, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Temple and UCF.
