Wellington locked in with Washington

Class of 2016 athlete Brandon Wellington committed to Washington before Chris Petersen even coached a game, so his decision this past summer was all about feel and promise.
Nearly four months and five conference losses later, the four-star prospect is as locked in with the Huskies as he's ever been.

"I'm really looking forward to getting on campus this week or next," Wellington said.
The 6-foot, 215-pound prospect figures to be welcomed with plenty of high-fives and pats on the back following his stellar performance last week in the Class 3A state championship against powerhouse Bellevue (Wash.). With Washington assistant Pete Kwiatkowski in attendance, Wellington had 110 rushing yards and three touchdowns to help Eastside Catholic snap mighty Bellevue's 67-game winning streak.
Wellington, the state's No. 2-rated recruit in the 2016 class (behind only No. 1 overall prospect Jacob Eason), said he would do some congratulating of his own.
"What that staff has been able to do in the first year has been good to see," Wellington said. "It's been about going in there and teaching. They were able to start over and implement their own philosophy. It's a rebuilding process, but it's promising."
Wellington has scholarship offers from Colorado, Oregon State and Washington State. He has also been receiving mail from Arizona and Miami, among others.
