Webb pulls off major surprise

It wasn’t a Signing Day surprise but it was just as big. That’s because the Florida Gators and Rivals100 five-star cornerback Dee Webb has pulled off one of the biggest recruiting upsets for the Class of 2003.

After saying that he was a Miami lean for the past month, Florida snagged a commitment from Webb, the No. 2 cornerback in the nation. The commitment was first reported in the Jacksonville Times-Union this morning and then Webb’s coach and Webb himself confirmed the report to Rivals100 just moments ago.
“The pros and the cons just pointed to Florida,” Webb said with a sense of excitement in his voice.
“When you broke it down, Miami had a lot of positives to it, but Florida just had more. I could play earlier there since there are basically two spots open. Miami has a lot of players that just signed and have been in the program for just a few years. I’m not afraid of competition, but I think that Florida just gives me the best opportunity.”
Webb, who said he definitely grew up dreaming of playing for Miami, has a new dream now.
“I want to help Florida win a national championship,” Webb said. “Ok, maybe two or three of them.”
