USF first offer for son of NFL legend

He may be the son of NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Brooks, but class of 2017 Tampa (Fla.) Gaither linebacker Decalon Brooks is well on his way to making a name for himself.
Last month, the rising junior prospect added his first offer, courtesy of nearby USF.

"I got the offer from them at the beginning of March," Brooks said. "I've played a few 7-on-7 tournaments over there but I've never really been there for a visit as a recruit so I want to get over there and take a look."
While the offer came as a bit of a surprise to Brooks, he said that the Bulls coaches let him know about him for some time.
"They said they have been watching me for a while and they saw my film and it really impressed them," Brooks said. "We can't talk a whole lot because I'm just a sophomore but they let me know they like me."
Now that he has the first offer on his list, Brooks said he will continue to work in hopes of adding more soon.
"It motivates me even more now that I got that first one," he said. "I have to keep working, stay humble and just keep striving to get better."
Several other programs are also showing interest, including Nebraska. Brooks said he's not sure when his next offer will come in, but he's planning on camping at several schools this offseason.
"I haven't had a chance to visit any schools yet so I want to get out and see some," he said. "I want to see Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Georgia and a few others. I'm going on a bus tour with my team and we're going to visit a bunch of schools so it should be fun."
