USC picking up interest of SoCal QB

Despite landing the nation's top quarterback a year ago (Mark Sanchez) and looking like no worse than a co-leader for the top signal caller in the class of 2007 (Jimmy Clausen), USC is still hoping to bring in a quarterback this year and has recently picked up their recruitment of Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame standout Garrett Green.
Green, 6-2, 190 pounds is a special talent and one of the state's best players on both sides of the ball. As a dual threat quarterback, Green can kill you with his arm or his legs and he's also a very talented safety with the ability to play on the defensive side of the ball in college.

Green's ability to play safety in college has always made us feel he's a player that should have offers from just about every top program around. His first choice is to play quarterback and we feel Green has the ability to play and excel at that position. But if things didn't work out at quarterback or there was a log jam at the position, a school could easily move him over to the defensive side of the ball and he could excel at safety.
Green is simply a winner at the high school level and has led Notre Dame to back to back Div III championships. The Knights are currently 9-0 this season, ranked No. 2 in the state and No. 17 in the nation in the Student Sports Fab 50.
Green missed two games due to sprained ligaments in his right throwing hand but he has played well since his return.
"I'm probably at about 90% right now," Green said. "This time of the year, that's pretty good because everyone is a little banged up."
On the recruiting front, Green said there are a handful of schools still on him very hard but he doesn't want focus too much on recruiting until his season is over.
"I don't plan on setting up any trip dates until our season is finished," Green said. "The schools I've been hearing the most from lately are Texas A&M, Kansas State, UNLV, Mississippi and now USC. All of them have offered except USC.
"Sark (USC QB coach Steve Sarkisian) has been calling me a lot lately and has been saying not to commit anywhere until I talk to them. I want to take all my trips and if I can't take all five, at least three of them and since I won't be doing that until the season is over, I'm nowhere near making a decision. But yeah, they've stepped it up a lot and it's pretty cool that they're showing me a lot of interest now.
"As for the other schools, I really haven't decided where I'm going to visit but I do know that me and Rodney (Glass) plan to take a few together and a lot of schools are recruiting both of us pretty hard."
