USC camp: Recruiting notebook
LOS ANGELES - Some offers were handed out at the USC Rising Stars Camp on Wednesday and plenty of other top prospects had positive things to say after the workout about the Trojans and their experience on campus. Get all the latest recruiting news right here.
Graham gets big offer

Thomas Graham
One of the goals for 2017 four-star cornerback Thomas Graham was to perform well at the Rising Stars Camp so he could land an offer from USC. Mission accomplished.
The Corona (Calif.) Eleanor Roosevelt standout was offered after the morning session and the Trojans immediately jump way up on his list. There is some serious talk that Graham could make his commitment in the coming weeks with USC, UCLA, Arizona State and Oklahoma as some favorites.
USC could be tough to beat, though. Graham has talked openly about his desire to attend the same school as his sister. She is going to USC to run track, so things seem to be setting up nicely for the Trojans.
Jackson lands USC offer
Austin Jackson
Four-star offensive tackle Austin Jackson was stellar in pass protection and also showed off his athleticism during the team period, and his effort forced Steve Sarkisian to pull him from the huddle to extend a scholarship offer. The 6-foot-6, 256-pound prospect has been on a hot streak lately, with Oregon and Texas A&M also joining the chase.
Despite making a big impression, it appears the Trojans will have to wait some time to gauge where they stand with Jackson, one of Arizona's top prospects in the 2017 class.
"I'm not in a rush to make a decision," Jackson said. "I want to take my time and look at all my options. I'm not sure where else I'm headed, but I'm probably going to make it to some games at Arizona, Arizona State and Texas A&M this fall."
QB has USC on top of list
Tua Tagovailoa
The distance from Hawaii to the mainland has limited four-star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to only a few visits the last six months, but USC has been the main beneficiary a couple times now. Another stop in Los Angeles on Wednesday meant another opportunity to build a bond with Sarkisian and position coach Clay Helton, whom Tagovailoa has already picked up an offer from. After another positive experience, the Trojans are sitting in great position early on.
"USC is No. 1 right now, but I've only been able to see them, UCLA and UNLV so far," Tagovailoa said. "But I won't make a decision until my senior year. I don't want to get caught up in all the buzz, so I'll focus on my school before I commit."
Rodgers has family connection
Amari Rodgers
Amari Rodgers' father is USC wide receivers coach/pass game coordinator Tee Martin. That fact alone does not mean the 2017 three-star receiver from Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic is a lock for the Trojans, but it certainly helps. What also could aid in USC's recruiting efforts is that Rodgers loved his experience Wednesday at the Rising Stars Camp.
"I love everything about SC," Rodgers said. "The coaching staff, campus, the surroundings. It's just great. I had a great day and had a lot of fun."
LSU recently offered and Martin won a national championship in 1988 as the starting quarterback at Tennessee, Rodgers' hometown school. The Volunteers have not offered yet, though.
As for having Martin at USC, Rodgers said it could help, but it's not the biggest factor.
"I just go out and play and then he gives me feedback," Rodgers said.
Gray raves about trip
xxxCAPTIONxxxx
Maleik Gray is one of the top athletes in the 2017 class (he solely played safety during the Rising Stars Camp) and really opened up about his experience at USC.
It sounds like the Trojans will definitely stick around for the La Vergne, Tenn., standout.
"I loved it," Gray said. "It's a lifetime experience. Just being able to come out and visit USC is amazing. Growing up, I never thought I would ever come to California. Being out here in Cali and at USC make me think twice about my other offers."
It's still very early for the high four-star prospect and he has offers from all over the country, including many SEC powerhouses, but it sounds like USC did everything to stay in contention as things move forward.
Harris still firm with 'Bama
Najee Harris
Najee Harris is a 2017 five-star running back from Antioch, Calif., that committed to Alabama shortly after visiting Tuscaloosa in April.
He camped at USC on Wednesday, but sources say he remains happily committed to the Crimson Tide despite the Trojans' coaches showing him a lot of attention during Rising Stars Camp.
Harris, one of the top offensive performers at the camp, even got some stuff from the security agents on the USC campus for showing up with an Alabama backpack. Explaining that it was an accident and he grabbed the wrong bag, it did not seem to stop the ribbing.
Jones talks about commitment
Velvus Jones
One of the top receivers at the Rising Stars Camp was USC commit Velus Jones, who picked the Trojans in late April.
The Saraland, Ala., three-star prospect said he had a great time at USC, but that many other programs including Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, UCLA and California continue to pursue him.
Jones said he had a great time at USC and that he's "pretty solid (in his commitment), but you never know what could happen in the future."
More from Jones: "It's always good to get out and grind on the field. USC is a great place and it would be an honor to be a part of a great tradition and history like USC."
