Updated '17 South Carolina State Rankings: Meet the Top Five
The most recent Rivals.com National Rankings update was completed last month, but now the complete state rankings are rolling out. Take a look at the top five players in South, how they got there and where we think they might end up signing next year.

Schools in the Mix: Smith is committed to South Carolina.
Prediction: It's hard to see Smith waining on his commitment status the Gamecocks, especially since he and his family took a measured approach when it came to the recruiting process. He recently made his commitment public and I think he stays locked in, regardless of what happens on the field for the Gamecocks this fall.

Schools in the Mix: Smith is committed to South Carolina.
Prediction: Smith will sign with the Gamecocks. There's no relation between the top two players in the state but both play wide receiver and intend on doing the same next year in Columbia. Smith has talked openly about how excited he is to be a Gamecock and I expect it to stay that way through Signing Day.

Schools in the Mix: North Carolina, Louisville
Prediction: Early on it looked like Robinson was headed for either Clemson or South Carolina but with numbers getting tight at both schools it seems like he destined to leave the state. Both the Heels and the Cardinals got in on Robinson early and have continued to show interest while some other programs have backed off.
Previous State Rank: 3
Schools in the Mix: Register is committed to South Carolina.
Prediction: Register will stick with the Gamecocks. He committed way back in the Steve Spurrier era and hasn't shown any signs of decommitting. Register does have family ties to Michigan but it's hard not see him sticking with the school he's already been committed to for more than a year.
Previous State Rank: Unranked
Schools in the Mix: Urich is committed to South Carolina.
Prediction: Urich will stick with South Carolina. The late-rising Urich spent the spring collecting offer and committed to the Gamecocks after taking a long look at Duke. Despite a true freshman starter and highly-touted Jake Bentley also in the mix, expect Urich to stick with South Carolina.
