ATLANTA -- Underclassmen from around the country converged on the Georgia Dome for the Rivals250 Underclassmen Challenge Presented by Under Armour over the weekend. Players took to the turf to showcase their speed, agility and determination to be considered among the nation's elite for next season and beyond.
Here are the 15 offensive prospects that stood out the most.
RELATED: Top plays | All-Farrell team | Recap | Rivals Camp Series
Recruiting wrap: Lawrence is thought to be between Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Clemson.
Performance: Lawrence has no trouble looking the part of a top-tier pro-style quarterback and played the part as well during the camp. He whips the ball with a good sense of timing and pace with a nice smooth delivery. He was slightly off the mark a time or two, but always threw a very catchable ball.
Recruiting wrap: Cook is committed to Florida State
Performance: Cook didn’t always catch the ball cleanly, but he certainly caught the ball a lot. He was a monster in 1-on-1s and, despite a couple of drops, won the vast majority of his matchups. He showed all the burst and speed that make him a dangerous runner at the camp while blowing past defenders with an array of vertical routes as a receiver.
Recruiting wrap: Jason is committed to LSU
Performance: Jason did what he does best, getting a half step on a defender and winning a jump-ball to win individual battles during the event. He had more work to do than most receivers, as defensive backs felt their best chance to slow him down was to create a lot of contact at the line, but still battled all afternoon. He’s an easy runner that only needs an inch to clear his defender.
Recruiting wrap: Webb currently holds offers from Georgia and Mississippi State.
Performance: Webb was easily the best offensive lineman at the Underclassmen Challenge. He won all but one of his 10-plus 1-on-1 reps against defensive linemen. He won individual battles by literally beating defensive linemen to the punch, and though he wasn’t nearly the biggest prospect in the group, his lower-body strength made up the difference for him to take offensive line MVP honors.
Recruiting wrap: Ohio State, Tennessee, Clemson and Georgia is the lead group in his recruitment.
Performance: Technically, Jones and Lawrence have very similar throwing styles, and Jones had similar results to Lawrence at the camp. Jones looked as good throwing on the move as he did in his standard drops. He accurately placed his passes and had a nice rhythm to the way he delivered his passes.
Recruiting wrap: Moore has plans to visit Alabama, TCU and Texas A&M this summer. Oklahoma is also a major player in his recruitment.
Performance: Moore is a skinny guy, but looks very natural when running routes and catching passes. He did a particularly good job of maintaining concentration and making catches where defenders came close to getting a hand in for a pass break-up. He’s a wiry guy that can sell a fake then turn-and-burn on a dime. He looked as comfortable a play-maker as any player on the day.
Recruiting wrap: Simmons has a handful of nice offers from Maryland, Penn State, West Virginia and others, but he’s still working to add to his offer sheet this summer.
Performance: Simmons also could have done a better job catching passes a little more cleanly, but was a sharp route-runner and looked decisive with his breaks and ball skills. He did a good job trying to make catches away from his body and not getting held up at the line too often. Simmons was one of those players whose enthusiasm had him trying to take as many reps as he could get and he made the most of many of them.
Recruiting wrap: Moore has double-digit offers from programs that recruit nationally. He’s looking to take visits to Michigan State and Ohio State and camp with Alabama and Maryland this summer.
Performance: Moore played like he had something to prove, relentlessly lining up for 1-on-1 matchups and working to out-hustle defenders every time he went for a pass. Moore does a great job of playing to his defender's back foot, and wins many individual matchups with quick feet alone. He’s a confident pass-catcher that capitalizes on routes putting a foot in the ground and making a cut downfield.
Recruiting wrap: Bennett will be visiting Ohio State soon and is looking closely at Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma this summer.
Performance: Bennett had a more successful day at the Underclassmen Challenge than he was a few weeks earlier at the Rivals Camp Series in Kansas City. He’s certainly a better prospect as a pure runner rather than a receiving threat, but he worked hard on every drill and rep and won just about all of his 1-on-1 matchups. He plays with a natural leverage and isn’t going to give defenders much of an opportunity to knock him off balance.
Recruiting wrap: Cain was most recently offered by Oklahoma State, Miami and Arizona State.
Performance: Cain, just a rising sophomore, was the Steady Eddie of the camp. He has a thick build and didn’t create a ton of separation as a receiver, but caught the ball very consistently. It’s clear that his game isn’t geared towards being overly elusive, but he stays light enough on his feet to give him the chance to make a guy miss and is a natural at using his body to keep defenders away from the ball.
Recruiting wrap: Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee are notable teams in his recent recruitment, but Gill holds offers from top programs from across the country.
Performance: Gill showed up looking more like a receiver than a running back and worked through pass-catching drills with a similar fluidity. He’s a long prospect that didn’t struggle to find space against linebackers during 1-on-1s. Gill is a speedy and precise runner and showed natural ball skills and has all the tools of a player that can line up in the slot as easily as he does in the backfield.
Recruiting wrap: Ole Miss and Texas Tech lead the group of those that have offered Chase thus far.
Performance: Chase was another player that showed better at the Underclassmen Challenge than his appearance in the Rivals Camp Series in New Orleans. He plays more to his physical strengths than his speed, but he didn’t struggle to get open and was very consistent catching the ball. Chase was very good at extending and catching the ball with his hands and won a couple of contested passes because of that.
Recruiting wrap: Eagles was recently offered by USC, Colorado and Michigan State. He had been sitting on just an early offer from Houston.
Performance: Eagles had a tough time getting 1-on-1 reps in and had a tough time getting into the flow of things as the camp wrapped up, but physically, few people look better than Eagles on the hoof. He is better as a vertical threat or a guy that doesn’t have to make more than one cut in a route and he needs to continue to concentrate when making catches, but he has all the tools to be a top-tier receiver prospect.
Recruiting wrap: Iowa State, North Carolina State and Oregon State are Unije’s only offers from Power Five teams, but he has a handful of others.
Performance: Unije has more the look of a guy whose best is yet to come, as he broke even between wins and losses in 1-on-1 matchups during the camp. He is still in a spot physically where he needs to continue to add strength as well as quickness with his feet. Smaller guys found ways to run around him and bigger guys could sometimes out-muscle him. He still showed flashes what’s to come as he continues to grow into himself and his potential.
Recruiting wrap: Irvin is committed to Michigan
Performance: Irvin had a similar day to Unije, looking bright in some spots, showing need for growth in others, but was still among the top at the position. Irvin played with some heavy feet, but found ways to win reps -- which he took plenty of. He needs to continue to add strength, but the framework is there for him to continue growing into a top interior lineman.
