Tyler Shough has a bye week and he has family in Oregon, so the four-star quarterback from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton thought it would be a perfect time to visit Eugene.
It was a perfectly good visit but added intrigue to his recruitment since Shough has been committed to North Carolina for months.
“It was convenient because I have family in Oregon and it is my bye week so I just wanted to check it out low key,” Shough said.
“Still 100 percent to UNC right now though.”
Oregon has the top-rated recruiting class in the Pac-12 and first-year coach Willie Taggart has been doing a phenomenal job on the trail landing top prospects around the country.
But the Ducks are still without a quarterback in this recruiting class and there’s no doubt Oregon’s coaches have targeted Shough as a possible addition.
“They were very interested and they need a quarterback to lead their class,” Shough said.
Rated as the eighth-best pro-style quarterback in the class and tops in the Arizona state rankings, Shough picked North Carolina over Michigan, South Carolina, Cal, Indiana and many others in June.
The four-star quarterback said he’s “pretty much done” with other trips but Shough added he’s considering official visits to both North Carolina and Oregon now.
