Jonathan Perkins committed to UCLA in the summer. He remains committed to the Bruins.

But the 2019 three-star linebacker from San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon recently landed an offer from Oklahoma and the Sooners have definitely piqued his interest as his junior season winds down.

“Thankful that I’m being recognized by a top program,” Perkins said. “Definitely going to be tough to pass this opportunity up.”

Oklahoma linebackers coach Tim Kish stopped by to see Perkins earlier this season and the two have stayed in touch since that time.

Finally, the Sooners decided to offer and it’s something the 2019 prospect said he’s going to seriously consider as his recruitment continues.

“Coach Kish came down to see me in late September so we have been talking since then and (Thursday) he told me to give him a call and he offered me,” Perkins said.

So far, the San Bernardino Cajon standout has landed offers from UCLA, Oklahoma, BYU, Colorado, Fresno State, Illinois, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Utah.

Since he’s having an excellent junior season, more schools could get involved with Perkins especially through next offseason.

As for his commitment, Perkins said he’s sticking with UCLA but that he’s not going to stop looking at other schools.

“Still committed but you never know what the future holds,” Perkins said.
