SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Jonathan Perkins remains committed to UCLA but when asked Sunday what his thoughts were on coach Jim Mora’s firing the 2019 three-star linebacker couldn’t offer much.

“No comment,” Perkins said.

The Bruins have been aggressively pursuing Perkins - and so have many other programs as his impressive junior season continues.

One of those schools is Oklahoma and the Sooners have definitely captured his attention.

“Coach (Tim) Kish came up to the school in late September and he told me he was feeling my film and he liked it very much,” Perkins said.

“He told me he was going to offer me, he just wanted to go back home to Oklahoma and talk to coach (Lincoln) Riley to see if they really wanted to offer and see how serious it was. That’s big. I’m glad they realized my talents.”

So far, the 2019 three-star linebacker has landed offers from UCLA, BYU, Colorado, Fresno State, Illinois, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah and Washington State. He has played some defensive back in the past but Perkins has definitely grown into a linebacker this season.

Perkins said TCU has been reaching out more often and that USC is getting more involved as well. A trip to Oklahoma could happen later in the year but the San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon standout is focused now on his team’s playoff run.
