Tyler Vrabel still excited about Boston College commitment

HOUSTON, Tex. -- St. Pius X has had little problem rolling through most of its opponents this season thanks in large part to offensive tackle Tyler Vrabel doing his part to keep 2019 Rivals100 quarterback Grant Gunnell upright.

In the Panthers rivalry game against St. Thomas two weekends ago, Vrabel did more than just block for Gunnell, as he threw a touchdown pass of his own to Jalen Curry during the 56-14 rout. Vrabel likely won’t be looking to throw too many passes at Boston College, where he’s been committed since June, but he has liked what he’s seen from the Eagles offense this season.

“I’m excited, I just can’t wait to get in there and get going,” he said. “I really like the O-Line coach, Coach (Justin) Frye, and I’m just really looking forward to growing as a player and a person.”

Vrabel has yet to take his official visit to BC, but has been up there once already this season for the Eagles Week 3 game against Notre Dame. Although the game might have ended with a disappointing score, that didn’t take away from the experience that he had.

“My parents got to come with me and it was pretty fun,” he said. “It was awesome - it was crazy - they battled it out against Notre Dame, so I was impressed.”

Vrabel said that other schools have maintained some contact with him, but that he’s standing pat with his commitment.

“I’m pretty set on BC,” he said.
