Two Northern Leaders for McKinney

Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff safety Prentice McKinney has no complaints when it comes to the recruiting process. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defender has added offers from across the country from some of the top programs in college football.
He has options, and more and more schools showing interest.

Where does everything sit right now on the recruiting front as he eyes spring football?
Well, he has about five schools at the top in Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Boise State, and Nebraska
"Michigan, they keep in touch with me real nice and everything," McKinney said. "We talk about two or three times a week. I talk to coach Madison every time. He's a real good dude.
"The Fighting Irish, it's a real good team and I like the school because it's real academic and the degree is worth something. It's a life after football thing so I'm real interested in that too.
"Oklahoma is a good school too. I put them up there the same with Michigan and Notre Dame too. It's a good school, a good football program, and the facilities are real nice and everything."
What about Boise State and Nebraska?
"Yeah, I can't really talk too much because I haven't been up there and seen them, but they have good football programs too," McKinney said.
One school he did mention he would like to hear more from was Texas. The Longhorns have shown an interest but McKinney hopes to hear more.
"I've heard from them and I went to their junior day and everything so it was really nice," McKinney said.
He does not have any other visits scheduled at this point and does not know when he will be able to take any more. However, he does have an idea about when he would like to make a decision.
"I'm going to make a final choice probably before the season starts so this summer," McKinney said.
He also admits there are two schools currently at the top of his list.
"Leaders…it's fighting between Michigan and Notre Dame really," McKinney said.
