SAN ANTONIO - Sean Rhyan is one of the top 2019 offensive tackles in the West and he’s already landed some impressive offers.
So far, the San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) San Juan Hills standout has received offers from Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington.
The four-star said at the Army National Combine last week that two schools have been particularly aggressive in recruiting him.
“University of Washington and USC are the ones who are mainly communicating with me and texting me a lot,” Rhyan said.
“I’ve been texting coach (Chris) Petersen at UDub and coach (Neil) Callaway at USC. They’re the ones texting me pretty often. My list is still not concrete yet. It’s still flexible because I haven’t gone on any visits officially.”
The 6-foot-6, 295-pound standout has already taken unofficial trips to USC, UCLA and Stanford and he said getting to Washington is a top priority. He’s already met briefly with Petersen and wants to learn more.
“It seems like a nice place,” Rhyan said. “Get some good fishing in.
“It seems like a good program and a good team. The way they play is good, too. I met coach Petersen in person a couple weeks ago. He came down to the school and seemed like a nice guy.”
His relationship with USC has also been strong early on.
“It’s been good,” Rhyan said. “USC has that big, legendary name behind them. They’re on my list, up there, but I’m not concrete on anything yet.”
Plenty more major interest is also coming in for Rhyan, who said Florida State, Florida, Clemson, Alabama, Penn State and Notre Dame among others have been showing new interest through his junior season.
