Top Defense: Playmakers 7-on-7

The former wide receiver continues his transition to safety with impressive results. Okeke is a long, athletic defensive back and his ball skills from his offensive days serve him very well in his new position. Several schools have recently offered Okeke, including Northwestern and Vanderbilt.

DB
T.J. Carter (2017)
Hendersonville, Tenn.
Carter picked up offers from Tennessee and Kentucky following Sunday's event and they likely won't be the only SEC schools that come calling. Carter is a physical cornerback and plays with an edge and confidence that is encouraging to see from a prospect at the position. Carter makes up what he lacks in size with speed and physicality and will be a name to watch heading into the major camps this spring and summer.

DB
Malique Fleming
Nashville (Tenn.) Hillsboro
Fleming stood out in drills and in one-on-ones. He used the sideline well and showcased fantastic field awareness. Fleming can run with quick wideouts and jam smaller targets at the line. He spent Sunday showing off impressive versatility that will serve him well down the road. He is still awaiting his first offer.

DB
Shedrick Kirk
Nashville (Tenn.) McGavok
Kirk's physicality is there in spades and he closes well on the ball. He's probably better cut out to be a safety than a cornerback, but he covered well enough at Sunday's event. He has impressive strength and a nice vertical as well. He could use some polishing when it comes to transitioning out a backpedal, but his physical tools alone make him an FBS prospect.

DB
Rodney Owens (2017)
Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth
Owens is new to the recruiting scene but should get some more attention now that former four-star teammates Donovan Sheffield and Rico McGraw have moved on to college. Owens has a great build for a safety and moves well in space. He impressed the most during the 7-on-7 period and did a great job of quarterbacking the defense from the safety position.

LB
Mike Jones Jr. (2018)
Lebanon (Tenn.) Friendship Christian School
Just a freshman, Jones already holds an offer from Tennessee, and it's easy to see why that is. Jones has impressive size and physicality for his age and covers incredibly. He shined during the event's 7-on-7 portion, where he used his long arms to take away chunks of the field. As Jones gets bigger and stronger, he will only improve. There is some question as to whether his future is at linebacker or end.

DL
Ben Hutch (2017)
Nashville (Tenn.) Hillsboro
Hutch has a nice build for a prospect of his age and has the frame to add muscle. He has a nice base and uses his hands well. He's a rare athletic big man that can beat guards with finesse or with power. If he manages to retain his nibble feet as he bulks up, he could be a special college player. Hutch holds offers from Tennessee and Ole Miss as things stand now. Nebraska and Ohio State may be next to offer.
