Jaiden Woodbey remains committed to Ohio State. He loves the Buckeyes. He appreciates the history and tradition in Columbus.

Woodbey especially knows how successful Ohio State defensive backs have been recently in the NFL Draft.

The four-star defensive back from powerhouse Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco is taking a look at some other programs and isn’t completely shutting things down, though, with USC and Oklahoma as the serious contenders.

One school that will be hard pressed to interest Woodbey is UCLA, even with new coach Chip Kelly starting a lot of recruiting buzz with top prospects in the West region.

As for Woodbey, his pledge still remains firm but the Trojans and the Sooners will get some consideration moving forward.

“I look at SC more seriously (than UCLA) considering the fact that they have had two 10-game winning seasons under coach (Clay) Helton and Oklahoma more seriously at the simple fact that they are 11-1 under head coach Lincoln Riley,” Woodbey said.

“But UCLA is still out of the picture for me.”

St. John Bosco is still in its playoff run and is gearing up for a rematch against arguably the top high school team in the country, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, this weekend so Woodbey is not entirely focused on his recruitment and his plans.

As for upcoming visits, those could happen, which might make things even more interesting for one of the best safeties in this class.

“I don’t know yet,” Woodbey said about trips. “Most likely.”
