LOS ANGELES - Macen Williams is a 2020 prospect but he’s already started the recruiting process and recently landed his first Pac-12 offer.
It was one the Gardena (Calif.) Serra recruit wanted.
“It was really big,” Williams said of his Oregon offer at the recent Premium Showcase. “It was my second offer and I was very happy to get it because I always looked at Oregon, it was always the top school for me.
“I just liked the energy there and the fan base and the style of play they have up there.”
Williams has already started to develop a relationship with Oregon assistant coach Donte Williams especially since he has been recruiting Williams’ brother, Max, a four-star prospect in the 2019 class.
“We started to have some really good conversations when he offered me,” Williams said. “We’ve just built the relationship and it’s starting now.”
The 2020 cornerback continues to weigh whether he wants to play with his brother in college or go out on his own. As Max Williams works through his recruitment this year, it will be important for his younger brother to see how things play out as well.
“I’m still debating that,” Williams said. “He’s my brother and I want to play with him and I always thought of playing with him at the highest level. But I also want to do my own thing and start my own legacy.”
Washington and Arizona State are two other prospects showing interest in the Serra defensive back.
