Time for trips

Things haven't changed in the last several months because four-star safety Daniel Johnson still has the same two favorites. However, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Rivals250 member is getting to work on his visits now that the football season is behind him.
After suffering an injury during the first game of the year, Johnson, the No. 11 rated safety in the country, was forced to watch his senior year from the sidelines. Feeling better and making a full recovery, Johnson is ready to take a pair of visits starting in the next two weeks.
"I've got a visit set for Texas Tech on Nov. 18 and then on Dec. 9 I'm heading to Tennessee," Johnson said. "My friend is at Texas Tech and he's been trying to get me down there. My brother (Corey Campbell) has also been wanting me to come see Tennessee, so I'm going to check it out."
Even though Tennessee will get his visit, Johnson hasn't changed his stance about schools far away from home.
"I just want to stay in the state of Texas and that's why Texas A&M and Texas Tech are still my top two schools," Johnson said. "I mean, I can't really say that it's not a disadvantage for teams not in the state."
Tennessee doesn't look to be the only out-of-state school to possibly get an official visit from Johnson. LSU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State look like the most likely choices for an official trip. He vows to make all of his trips before deciding.
"I'm not going to do anything before my fifth visit is done," Johnson said about the chances of committing early. "I mean I've got a lot of things to check out first."
The season ended early for his team as they will not be making a playoff run this year. For Johnson who sat out most of the year, it's been hard to watch.
"It just happened so fast," he said about his injury. "Somebody was coming in for a chop block and they dove at my knee. I was already having soreness and stuff from track and that just made it worse. I'm not even sure exactly what the injury is, but I'm back now."
"I just wish we could have gone farther."
