Tigers still tops for Russian

Round Rock, Texas tight end Alex Russian committed to LSU about a month ago. Prior to making his decision, the No. 43 ranked prospect in the Lone Star State took a road trip that led to tours of several schools. Russian had scholarship offers from all of the schools he visited and decided Les Miles' program was the right fit for him. What has happened since the three-star rated prospect made his decision?
"I committed to LSU on June 15," the 6-foot-4, 222-pound Russian said. "At that point, the letters and text messages really kind of stopped. I am kind of missing the process some, but I am very happy with my choice and where I stand with my decision."

Russian said he saw all he needed to see while on his tour of schools in early June.
"My tour of schools was all I needed," he said. "I saw the schools and met the coaches. I learned a lot about the schools. After that I just felt that LSU was the place I needed to be."
Russian is confident he made the right decision in picking the Tigers over offers from several Big 12 and Texas schools, including Baylor, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, UTEP and Tulsa. Many of the schools that had offered scholarships had also played host to Russian on his tour of schools.
"I will be sticking with LSU. It is the right place for me and they are a good team with a good group of players. I will not be taking any other visits, because there is no need to."
As a junior, Russian caught seven passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns.
