Houston (Texas) Spring Woods safety Daniel Johnson took his first official visit to one of his leaders Texas Tech this past weekend. What did the 6-foot-3, 195-pounder with 4.41-second speed think of his trip to Lubbock?
"It was really nice up there," he said. "I got there Friday and pretty much the whole visit I ate and hung around the football players. Saturday, I went to the game and then to a little party with my host Catron Houston. It was a lot of fun with him as we knew each other before. On Sunday, I took a tour of the campus and then met all the coaches. Coach Leach is a really good guy and he basically just asked how my trip went and did I like it. The one thing that I really liked about him was that he has a really good sense of humor."
The Rivals250 prospect took in the Red Raiders 23-21 squeaker against Oklahoma.
"It was a great game and probably one of the best games I've ever been to," he said. "I liked in the fourth quarter they were trailing, but they didn't give up and instead worked to the finish. The atmosphere there was great and the whole town is covered in red.
"On the field, I saw that they have some pretty good safeties. I liked how they play and they have good communication with each other."
Overall, Johnson rated his trip to Lubbock a nine.
"I had fun and it was a lot more than I expected," he said. "They still stand at the top as one of my leaders with Texas A&M."
Next up for the four-star prospect is an official visit to Tennessee on December 9th.
