Texas RB shocked at lack of calls

Beaumont (Texas) Central all-purpose back Ivory Williams has not had the chance to answer many phone calls since the September call period opened up. But, that hasn’t kept the schools from trying.
“I have only had the chance to talk to Arkansas, Utah and Arizona,” he said. “Some other schools have tried that we’ve gotten messages from saying they’ve tried. But I’m a little shocked at how few of schools have actually called.”

Houston, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State have all called when the three-star standout was not available.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Williams is hopeful of competing for his college choice’s track team as well. He is the reigning state champion in the Texas Class 5A 100 meter dash.
“I would like to do track,” he said. “I really enjoy that and hope that will work out.”
The season is off to a good start for Williams.
“Thins are going real good,” he said. “I’ve been playing both ways. And on defense, I’ve had no balls thrown my way at cornerback. I’ve been playing wide receiver on offense. I don’t really have a preference as to which I play in college. I am being recruited for both.”
Williams’ play at wide receiver has had a lot of the same result as his defense.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” he said. “We run the ball most of the time. They’ll come. I’m not worried about that.”
