THE LATEST

Class of 2019 three-star defensive back Shilo Sanders is no stranger to the recruiting scene, having been a regular at camps and offseason events alongside his father, NFL legend Deion Sanders, over the past few years. Coming into the fall he had an offer list including several quality programs, but after a stellar start to his senior season new programs are offering on a regular basis. Over the past few weeks he's added Michigan State, South Carolina and his father's alma mater, Florida State. The influx of new interest has Sanders reevaluating his options, so it's a good time to check in with Sanders and get the latest on his recruitment.

IN HIS WORDS

On his recruitment heating up: "I was focused on my season, because this was a big one for me and, thank God, it’s going great. It’s a great opportunity to take my talents to the next level. It’s just great because of all the work I’m doing is paying off and I'm thankful for that."

The the schools entering the mix: "Florida State, South Carolina, Colorado State, Michigan State, Rutgers - they have all offered recently. There’s a lot of schools. I really just asked them to speak with my dad about it because he handles recruiting for me."

SOUTH CAROLINA

"I talk to [defensive coordinator] Coach T-Rob [Travaris Robinson.] He’s a great guy and a great coach and I know he can help me get to the next level. He hasn’t really seen me play in person, but off of film he can see that I have a lot of potential and that my technique is sound. One of his former teammates is my coach, Kevin Mathis, and they have talked about me and how I could fit there at South Carolina."

Gamecocks official visit: "I didn’t expect it to be as nice as it was. I didn’t expect the atmosphere to be like that at the game. When I got there I was just surprised how the fans react, the campus, the facilities, I really loved it overall. It was a great visit."

FLORIDA STATE

"I don’t really talk to the coaches from FSU that much and that’s because my dad deals with them. Maybe because he doesn’t want any pressure on me. He’s not pushing it all. The offer is great, I’d love to have the opportunity, but at the same time he wants me to be able to choose what I want do for myself. He talks to their coaches all time and he's gotten to know them well."

On a potential official visit to Tallahassee: "Probably so. I’ve been there a few times so I know what it's like. We’re still getting all the dates together. I’m not sure not, I’m not saying I am, I'm not saying I’m not. Me and my dad and my coach are going to sit down and talk about it and plan everything out."

FUTURE VISITS/COMMITMENT PLANS

"Michigan State and Colorado State, I’m definitely taking officials to those two schools. We’re still setting up those. I think I'm going to Colorado State on Dec. 14, but it might change. We’re going to set it up for the best situation there is possible. If they want me to go to a game that’s cool, but if I want to spend more time with the coaches and talk to them more then it will be after the season."

Commitment timeline: "I’m not committing until after the season. I'll sign early but I’m not going graduate early."
