Texas DB likes attention

La Marque, Texas three-star safety James Thomas isn't following the trend of an early commitment like several players across the state of Texas. The state's No. 50 rated player is looking every several offers and though he won't name favorites, has two schools putting on the full court press.
The 6-foot, 169-pounder has received scholarship offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, and several others. Two of those schools are standing out to Thomas.

"Well, Kansas State and Arizona are showing me more love than everybody right now," Thomas said. "In my eyes, nobody really is a favorite. Those schools just are always in contact. They send text messages as a staff and it's almost every day."
Thomas says he hasn't started setting up visits, but over some vacation time did make some quick unofficial visits to a few schools. Those included LSU, Central Florida, and Florida.
"I actually stopped by the Friday Night Lights camp at Florida," Thomas said. "It went really well. LSU was just a visit. I got to meet a few of their coaches. Neither school said much about offering or anything though."
Thomas says he'd like to make his commitment midway through the season.
"That's what I'm looking at," he said. "I want to take some visits first and decide then."
Thomas is rated as the No. 50 overall prospect in Texas.
